The General Secretariat for Investments and Development promotes the implementation of funding programmes, which support the country's development. The secretariat aims to support the investment endeavours of the private sector and the development of Greece's productive potential. The Secretariat operates under the Ministry of Economy, Competitiveness and Shipping.
The General Secretariat for Investments and Development :
Participates in the planning and monitors the application of the Investment Incentive Laws in order to help the successful realisation of private investments that will contribute to the country΄s development.
Recommends measures for the acceleration of regional convergence and cohesion.
Coordinates and supports the operation of the Special Services of the National Coordination Authority and the Directorate General for Regional Policy Development Programming & Public Investments.
Secures the implementation of the aims linked to the National Strategic Reference Framework (N.S.R.F.) and the Cohesion Fund.
Secures the sound management and maximum utilisation of the national and community funds.
Monitors and secures the observance of the legality and regularity principles as well as the sound enforcement of the national and community laws of the investments' sector.
Monitors the commitments undertaken towards the European Union.
Supports the Public Investments Programs by introducing measures and institutions that guarantee the effective use of national funds and by evaluating the schemes and securing the application of control instruments during the implementation of operations on all levels.
The General Secretariat for Investments and Development is comprised of the Directorate General for Regional Policy Development Programming & Public Investments and the Directorate General for Private Investments.
Furthermore the General Secretariat for Investments and Development supervises the Paying Authority and the Management Organisation Unit of Development programmes. (M.O.U. S.A.).
